 I find the whole anti-woke brigade rather tedious with their attitude that they somehow own the games industry so only their 'needs' should be catered to and that seems to include such highlights as a game is woke if women aren't portrayed as weak and don't have the breasts half hanging out.

I mean, weren't we there 20 years ago already that guys like to watch something nice when playing a game as well? Wasn't that the whole appeal of Tomb Raider to begin with? I definitely remember articles about "Why do so many guys like to play female characters in games?" that came down to "uhm... I won't say butts, but it's butts."
And then that anti-woke brigade comes and shits all over the place because they can't stand a video game not catering to them alone for once.
I mean, I am a straight white male, and you know what? I don't want to look only at guys the whole time, and I kinda dig strong women. And I experienced enough white male protagonists in my lifetime, I kinda want to play something else.
(it also doesn't help that they complain even if there's just the option of a female character, which is like... what do you even want?!)

 The other part is it's the same crowd that bangs on about freedom of expression and being anti-cancel culture. What they actually mean is freedom of expression is only good if we agree with what you say and 'cancelling' anything we don't like is absolutely fine.

It's the same old song about being all about freedom of expression, but having a meltdown as soon as they see one opinion that doesn't fit their own. But they expect everybody else to just take their horseshit without argument and without being able to filter them out.

There is a flip side though, Kingdom Come:Deliverance II has had accusations of lack of diversity due to in particular the lack of non-white NPC's. It's a historical setting, that's one of its selling points. What do you expect?

People in general underestimate the amount of travelers and immigrants in a lot of history. There was in general a lot more of it as the "whites only" crowd wants to make people believe. Still not significant numbers, but Europe, and especially something as central as Bohemia, would not have been a stranger to people looking different.
