You're not missing out.
Sure, the concept behind this game /sounds/ really cool; just as the
Berlin Wall is coming down in 1989, you're suddenly tossed into an
alternate dimension where robots have taken over the world. You then
run around in a first-person puzzle/shooter trying to work your way
back. It has the potential to be a really awesome adventure.
But "Industria" fails to live up to its conceit in almost every way.
It's a poorly told story combined with boring game mechanics in a
visually uninspiring world. It's best feature is that it isn't
COMPLETELY unplayable (although it's buggy enough that it almost
achieves that at times). It's one of those games that just isn't in
any way FUN to play. You keep trudging forward, hoping that they will
be some reward to your persistence (an exciting set-piece, some
visually impressive design, even a satisfying end to the story) but
there never is. It's a tedious trudge through unexciting levels and
dull-as-dishwater gun-play until the game rather suddenly ends.
And it feels all the worse because the core idea behind the game
sounds so cool and it utterly fails to do anything worthwhile with it.
Not being able to claim that game is a god-send, and not a missed
opportunity.
