FREE GAMES: "Football Manager 2024" & "Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts"

The days are getting shorter but the free games seem to be becoming
more plentiful. Perhaps it's harvest season for video-games? Well,
let's take a ride to old man Epic's farm and see what goodies are on
the vine this week.

    Oh good, another footie management sim. It can go right
    there on the shelf next to my never-played copies of
    Football Manager 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023! I mean,
    I guess the games are alright, but /managing/ a video-
    game football team is even less interesting to me than
    playing virtual footie, and that's a genre that's pretty
    low on my lists of interests to begin with. Then again,
    I drive virtual trucks, so who am I to judge?

* Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts

    I never could quite get into the Sniper games; they're
    an odd juxtaposition of stealth and first-person shooter
    that never seemed to fit together too well. If it was a
    game where you just got into position to take the one
    shot and then had to quietly exfiltrate, then maybe I'd
    enjoy them more, but the Sniper Ghost Warrior games throw
    hordes at you and expect you to take them all down. Your
    best bet is to either go loud all the way, or stealth it
    with dagger and silenced pistol; either way, the whole
    sniping aspect gets minimized. That said, as an FPS the
    games aren't too bad; middle-tier stuff sure, but
    competent enough. They're fine.


Well, we've plucked what we can from the orchards at Epic. We'll
