Realsound was digitized speech through the PC speaker. It was actually
quite impressive tech, since manipulating the PC speaker was
CPU-intensive. It produced rather impressive sound -- actually
recognizable speech and music! -- despite its origins. Accolade
invested heavily in the tech, and then used it in almost all of their
games.

It's still PC Speaker, though. ;-)

I agree but I just never got around to opening and playing my shrink
wrapped games.  I probably got this one for a couple of bucks years
ago.

But now that you've remembered it exists, doesn't it just sit there
and tempt you? "C'mon, big boy, rip off my wrappin'! See what goodies
lie beneath!"

It's not healthy to repress such feelings, you know. ;-)
