Thank you! It has been added to my vintage game folder. Might even pull
this one out. Ultima VI was one of the last great narrative games for the
series, and put a great twist on the second trilogy.

Spalls post reminded me that I have had Nuvie bookmarked for several
years now. I have Ultima 6 working fine in DosBox but the changes
Spalls mentions likely makes Nuvie worth using instead.
Since many of its features are controlled by directly editing its
CONFIG file, here are some tips for newbies.
- When installing, you need to edit the NUVIE.CFG file to point to the
game directory where the original (DOS) game-files are located. Search
for "<gamedir>C:\Ultima6</gamedir>" and edit the path to whatever is
appropriate on your system.
- change <doubleclick_opens_containers> (in INPUT section) to yes to
make it easier to open bags, etc.
- change <converse_gump> and <use_text_gump> (in GENERAL section) to
change interface to more like Ultima 7
- change <roof_mode> to yes (in ULTIMA6 section) to show roofs on some
buildings
- find <game_style>original</game_style> to
<game_style>original+_full_map</game_style>
- change <game_width> to 800 and <game_height> to 600
- <scale_method> Super2xSaI is nice
- so is <scale_factor> 3
These give you a nice balance of new and old features and make the
game most playable.
