It is more difficult and complex to set up compared to consoles like
hardware, drivers, updates, compatibilities, etc. However, I love the
flexibilities to do whatever I want with my PCs like mods, addons, etc.

It's making the rounds, this quote: Hideaki Nishino, one of
Playstation's CEOs, claimed that a big reason to buy a Sony
Playstation 5 is that 'PCs are difficult to set up.'

A statement which isn't _absolutely_ untrue, but seems incredibly out
of date. _Can_ PCs be difficult to set-up? Undeniably. Are they
necessarily so? No. In fact, I'd argue that for the majority of PC
users, a modern computer is in fact no more difficult to set up than a
Playstation. Arguably less so, since most people probably have more
familiarity with the standardized plugs on their PC than the
proprietary connectors on a Playstation.

Of course, you _can_ make it so you have a harder time when you get a
new PC. If you really want, you can put yourself into a position where
you have to plug-in expansion cards, and wonder if your RAM is going
to work with your motherboard, and if your OS will have drivers for
your GPU. Heck, it takes me two or three days before I get a new PC
into 'working' order, but that's because I want an extremely
customized system... something I can only do _with_ a PC and not at
all on a Playstation.

And it's not like Playstation is all sunshine and roses either...
especially the new PS6 the CEO was flogging. The days of just slipping
in a CD and instantly playing a video game are long behind us. The PS5
--lacking an optical drive entirely-- will demand you first set-up an
online account with Sony before you can even _access_ your games.
Something you can either do by painfully pecking out your information
using the supplied gamepad... or, you know, using a computer.

Remove the beam from thine eye before criticizing the mote in others,
Sony.

But honestly, the whole idea of game-consoles just seems increasingly
dated these days. With the proliferation of computing devices -be they
mobile hand-helds or actual PCs- available to everybody, and how
powerful those devices have become, buying a machine _solely_ for the
playing of video-games seems up there with having a dedicated MP3
player or carrying around a camera. It seems dated, obsolete. And
nothing I've seen about the PS6 really challenges that belief. Oh,
it's graphics are 5% better than the PS5 and 15% better than mobile,
whoopdie-doo. It hardly justifies the price.

Then again, I am an unashamed member of the PC Master Race, and having
a single powerful and customisable computer that does everything has
always been my preferred choice. I've an obvious bias, and I recognize
that. But the advantage of a console has always been in its price and
simplicity, and over the years, this differentiation has narrowed so
dramatically that it's virtually unnoticeable.

I get that the CEO of Playstation has to hype up his product (and
point out the flaws of his competitors). But CEO Hideaki Nishino's
comments seem out of touch with the reality of the industry, and that
doesn't inspire confidence in anything else he might say about his
product.
