Meanwhile, the last time I set up a Playstation, I was having all
sorts of problems, first getting it to display properly and then
connecting to the WiFi. Admittedly, these issues had less to do with
the Playstation proper and more with the hardware I was connecting it
to.** Still, it shows that not even consoles are immune from being
"difficult to set up".
Oh yeah, forgot to include both of those, while the PS5 connected to the TV, it looked weird, and it took probably 10 minutes to get it set up in a tollerable manner, and we were still fiddling with it at least a week later.
Wifi was more difficult than on the PC, also took a good 10-15 min.
Part of why it took so long to set up my Son's account is I started to set it up as a kid's account, but after doing some research there's issues with that, where the PS5 age restricts games even when the kid ages out of the restricted age range, and can never be removed. So I just ended up setting him up with a regular account.
There were just tons and tons of options on what to restrict too before I got to that point and I of course had to look them up so I could understand just what each particular restriction actually does (which is where I eventually stumbled on that problem in the previous paragraph.)
The biggest thing I hate is still just the fact you have to pay a monthly sub just to play most games online with other people.

* Yeah, I know you don't _have_ to use a Microsoft account (and I
never do) but a lot of people --including the colleague in question--
just don't care and do what Microsoft instructs them to do

I have an MS account for the Xbox stuff, but I don't use it to log into my computer, even though it took me a lot longer to set up with a local account. It's getting harder and harder too, latest win 11 image was giving me a hell of a time with that.
