Well, I'm sure that will make PC gamers happy. There's nothing they
like more than being forced to sign up for yet another extraneous
service... especially for a stand-along single-player game. I don't
even have to go to the store page to guess that the game is probably
(and rightfully, IMHO) being review-bombed for this requirement.

At least Sony was more upfront with this requirement than it was with
"Helldivers 2", making it clear from the start that if you wanted
"Ragnarok" you were going to have to get a PSN account. Still, this
minimal extra transparency doesn't make the requirement any more
welcome.

Especially since PSN isn't available in all regions (which means that
people in some countries won't be able to play the game at all), and
-at least in some areas- creating a PSN account either requires
sharing your cell-phone number with Sony, or showing them government
ID to prove your identity.

And all this for "God of War: Ragnarok"? It was an okay game, but I
never saw it as a stand-out game. It wasn't one of those 'must have'
titles. "Helldivers 2" received a lot more hype, and even with that
game Sony had to back down on the PSN requirement (that requirement
also arguably made more sense, since it was an online game).

Maybe this sort of crap is what Playstation CEO Hideaki Nishino meant
when he said PCs were "too difficult to set up." If only there was
something he could have done about that...
