Or just go for something much quicker, like the boomer-shooter
"Selaco". Yes, it's a retro game but it's got very quick-paced
arena-based shooting, with surprisingly deep mechanics for a game of
its type. If you just want to dive into some intense firefights
against hordes of enemies that quickly die beneath your withering
gunfire, this is a fun one to try.

Who sells Selao?
It's published by Altered Orbit Studios (an Indie developer) and sold
on Steam (possibly elsewhere too but finding those elsewheres is up to
you;-)
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1592280/Selaco/Currently going for $25 USD, with a lowest recorded price of $19.99.
Even though it is nominally early access, it's a complete game and has
very solid mechanics already. The bigger issue is that it is _very_
much a 'boomer shooter' with very quick movement and reliance on
knowing which guns work best against which enemies. It also has 'retro
graphics', although this is so blinged up that it looks pretty good
despite that.
TL;DR: although it's niche, but a very good example of the genre.
I really did start to like Sker Ritual but it's always too close to
bed time when I think of playing it :-)
That's more of a horde-based shooter (which I never really enjoyed;
too repetitive). "Selaco" is more old-school, with definite
progression through levels until you get to the end.
