Just half-heartedly playing Art of Murder: FBI Confidential. Yeah I
know, an old poorly reviewed point 'n click game...not sure why I chose it;
perhaps from wanting a detective story of some sort. Anyway, it's
straightforward so far, and I keep a walkthrough handy to avoid getting
frustrated. I've decided my next game is Enslaved: Journey to the West,
which I've been hearing good things about.
I don't know if my recommendation is a positive or negative for you,
but I quite enjoyed "Enslaved". It wasnt' a _great_ game; it had its
flaws. But it was solid and fun. In particular, I enjoyed the
platforming and the green apocalypse vibe. I was less enthralled with
the combat; it was workaday at best, and it isn't the sort of fighting
I enjoy (it's vaguely similar to the punch-n-kick rhythmic style you'd
find in the Batman Arkham games, as I recall). The story and
characters were average overall; it started a lot stronger than it
ended, from what I remember.
[I should also note it's been close to a decade since I played
it, and I don't know how well it's stood up to the test of
time. Even back in 2015, it already felt a bit dated in
design.]
It's not the sort of game I'd recommend people rush out and buy, but
if you have it in your library, why not at least give it a chance.
Although, try and stick around longer than the tutorial level, which I
recall as being the weakest part of the game. ;-)
