Me, I almost always turn 'em on. Partly, because -yes- I'm getting aSpalls: "Me? I choose option 1."
wee bit older and the ears just aren't as good as they used to be. But
also, I read a heck of a lot faster than people talk, and that either
lets me skip through superfluous conversations without missing
context, or lets me focus on other things (like the visuals) while the
NPCs are yammering away. Plus, sometimes the subtitles give a bit of
extra context that I find interesting, especially if it adds to the
world-building.
That is what short is, sir.
Zag: "I, personally, choose option zero. It's more cinematic that way."
^^ Also short.
Oddly enough though, in an rpg I like to have all the numbers pop up on
the screen like a Bat-Man fight with "Zap" and "Pow" flying across the
screen. I want CRITICAL HIT to come screaming at me in living color. If I
can see the rolls too, great! I want all those glorious numbers flying
all over the place. But dialog? Nah. Not even if they're speaking in a
language I don't know. I don't care. Video game dialog generally sucks,
to this day, and is generally irrelvant. I rely on a dialog history if I
miss something important.
^^ Not short.
Any questions? ;^P
