They need to bring back No One Lives Forever franchise. Um, not Contract JACK! :P

Ain't never gonna happen. GOG (and others) have been chasing that IP
for literal decades now, and still haven't untangled the rights. It's
such a tangled mess -thanks to the numerous buy-outs and mergers- and
the revenue allotted to the rights-holders from any re-release would
be so small, that none of them are interested in clearing things up.

I can't say I'm that disappointed though. Of course, that's partly
because I still own my CDs for the original games (and have old
hardware that can run it effortlessly. And you all made fun of me for
keeping a Win98 computer!). If I really wanted, I could play "No One
Lives Forever" today! :-P

But the thing is... I don't want to. The game was undeniably clever,
and hilariously funny... but the pacing was vile. To get the most out
of it, you had to be absolutely stealthy because a lot of the humor
was in what the guards were doing and saying when they thought no one
was around. But as soon as they saw you, the gags stopped and the
gunplay began. Neither the stealth nor the gunplay were particularly
good either. Especially those stealth missions that you instantly
failed when you were spotted. Yuck. Monolith had some really good
writers but their game-designers were subpar.

I didn't care for "Contract JACK" either but I didn't dislike it as
much as a lot of others did. JACK was basically NOLF without the gags,
and like I said, the gameplay alone just couldn't carry the franchise.
JACK was terrible... but NOLF (and a bit less-so, NOLF2) never ranked
very high for me either.

TL;DR: The games are far more fun to watch than play. But I can still
play them if I want, so nyaaah!
