More Prime Gaming: 24 December 2024

Well, we might as well do this. It's getting a bit exhausting, to be
sure, but if they keep giving away games, we gotta keep announcing
them. Gog, I'll be happy when this nightmare of endless free games
comes to end. ;-)

The flood is becoming a mere trickle, but that's okay. We already got
so many that I'm not that upset.


* Predator: Hunting Grounds (via EPIC)
     A 1-vs-many asymmetrical PVP game; take on the role of
     the eponymous Predator, or of the squad of victims/hunters.
     It's basically "Friday the 13th" or  "Dead by Daylight",
     except with a vaguely sci-fi vibe and a different licensed
     monster. It's an okay game; it doesn't really stand out from
     the crowd but doesn't do anything wrong either. It's
     definitely a game you have to play with friends though; it
     falls apart if you play with randos on the Internet.
     Remember when the Internet wasn't so toxic that was actually
     an option?


* Aces of the Luftwaffe: Squadron Extended Edition (via Amazon)
     Although the title of the game immediately makes me flash
     back to classic DOS-era flight sims like "Secret Weapons of
     the Luftwaffe", this is a much more simplistic bullet-hell
     shoot-em-up. Fine for what it is; not really special. I
     guess the graphics are nice.


* Simulakros (via Amazon)
     A vaguely cyberpunkian third-person shooter. Again, its
     nothing extra-ordinary; it's a B-list game that does as
     much good as bad. If you want a break from other shooters,
     this one is okay. Don't expect much, won't get much, but
     probably won't be completely disappointed either.


* Christmas Fables: The Magic Snowflake (via Legacy Games)
     I mean, c'mon; it's the last game I mention in a free Prime
     Gaming give-away, it's hosted on Legacy games; yeah, of
     course it's another cheapo hidden-object / logic puzzle
     adventure game. Given the sheer number of these things,
     obviously SOMEBODY must enjoy them. I'm not one of 'em,
     though.


It's obvious that we're in the dregs of this month's PrimeGaming
give-away; all the really good games have already been taken. But
that's okay; this week's selection aren't /that/ bad; they just
compare poorly to what we already got. Anyway, it makes The Number
happy.

Next week we start an entirely new month of games, though. The cycle
continues!
