The visuals even on the Oculous 2 are pretty damn good, 1832 x 1920 per eye. The combined 3d feels like it's better due to the 3d quality too.
Well that's compared to my 1080p monitor though. I don't have a 4k display so I can't compare, but having seen 4k displays in stores they don't really look significantly better to me than 1080p at a reasonable viewing distances.
Now the actual quality of the graphics in the games is another matter. Most of the better games I've played have fairly simple graphics looking like they're from 20 years ago. The Star Wars one was pretty good as I remember, but I could be wrong as it's been a couple years (but that one triggered my vertigo pretty hard, I did manage to eventually grit my way through the first installment.)
