What Have You Been Playing... IN DECEMBER 2024?
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
Coming out just a short while ago, this title has already been chosen as GOTY by Eurogamer among others, and I'll join in the acclaim. You basically play through an Indiana Jones movie plot from a first person perspective, which is a big factor in increasing immersion, and you explore tombs in exotic locations, solve puzzles, gather clues, and fight a whole lot of nazis -- and let me tell you, the combat system is great fun after you learn the mechanics (learning the parry move is critical, and timing is generous so its easy to pull off); you can target different parts of the body, push enemies off ledges & such: After awhile you can take on a whole camp full of fascistas, with just your fists and the odd bottle or shovel you pick up. I put 50+ hours into it, 100%'ing it to boot, and enjoyed all of it. (If you attempt 100% also, and run into an apparent bug with missing notes, go to the fountain of Confession in the Vatican and take/re-take a picture of the statue, that fixed the bug for me and several others). It is on PC Gamepass, and is well worth a month's sub for a playthrough.
