Not the most useful answer I have but I don't see the attraction of it at all, each to their own of course.
Probably the nearest I can get to it is I've watched the occasional session of tabletop RPG's but that's only when you're talking about the professional end of the scale.
Just reading you mention "the professional end of the scale of TTRPGs" is making me look for the way back to the real world. :P
