 I can't think of anything more pointless than cosmetic skins in Civ. Are
they aiming this thing at MP so you can impress your friends? MP in Civ
is like play-by-mail. I doubt they can fix that.

I don't think the arrival of Civ VII heralds that we should all buy and play Civ VII.  I'm of the mind that it means it's finally time to put down Civ V and move forward to Civ VI.
The issue I had with Civ VI was corrected by moving backwards through my machines - to a computer without keyboard lights.  I'm surprised at how well it is running on this one,  I think overalls it is running cooler than on the X14.
