Fair, it does seem like a "turn your brain off" game from what I've
seen.

I didn't really stick with "Power Washing Sim", but that's less
because I disliked the game and more because I'd already essentially
played it with "Viscera Cleanup", which is a more tongue-in-cheek take
on the idea. PWS felt redundant after that, so I didn't dive into that
game as deeply.

I agree. I don't think it's enough to carry a game (although some
people might disagree) but I do think it's a very attractive notion to
a lot of people, even if they don't consciously realize it. (I think
the appeal of crafting is a related function). It makes the game's
virtual world feel more real, and more reactive to your actions.

I don't think that most people playing "Power Washing Simulator" are
really that involved in the idea of the washing. They're not secretly
desiring to make things ultra-squeaky clean, in games or elsewhere.
It's the tech that attracts; the ability to have an affect on the
world. That -combined with the sometimes puzzle-like nature of the
game- is enough to make the game attractive.

It's like my attraction to those silly truck-driving sims. I'll be the
first to admit the on-the-face concept of slowly driving cargo across
mundane worlds is not why I play the games. In fact, I'll be the first
to admit, that sounds boring to me. But I like the exploration, and
the visuals, and the often-described-as-zenlike relaxation that
sometimes happens as I cruise the highways. But the minutiae of the
driving and cargo are incidental. So too with a lot of games that
often sound ridiculous on the face of it... like "Power Washing" or
"Farming Simulator".
