I love vampire movies, usually. For the most recent I've seen
"Renfield" was pretty good. Nicholas Cage made a very good Dracula.
Obviously that one's a bit more camp than serious, and from the
perspective of a modern Renfield. (didn't go over great with critics,
but audience seems to like it)
Renfield was surprisingly good. I mean, it was absolutely stupid too
but I've come to expect so little from Nicholas Cage movies that
actually enjoying one was a bit of a shock. It's odd mix of
tenderhearted romance and over-the-top gore is probably what saved it.
It's schlock, but GOOD schlock. Highly recommended (but don't bring
the kids).
