I don't know if anybody ever played Defiance 2013 or Defiance 2050 in
this group. I played both and enjoyed the games. I was quite
disappointed when 2050 went offline a few years ago
Interesting, I wasn't aware of this 2050 version at all so I guess I
played 2013 although back then it was just Defiance. I remember playing
it quite a lot, I guess all those checkable boxes managed to tickle the
completionist in me.
It's probably the only MMO I've played so I have no point of
comparison. But I did rather like the difficulty setup, it seemed to
scale up pretty well. If you went on a mission with a low level
character alone the opposition was also low level. If some high level PC
wondered to the same mission area, the difficulty scaled so that higher
level enemies spawned but still both the low level and high level
character had reasonable opposition and could deliver meaningful DPS
too.
In general, my feeling of the game was similar to the TV show, wanted to
like both but they never really seemed to get there. And also, the big
deal about having a TV show and game boiled down to the TV cast doing a
little voice work for the game which wasn't exactly new.
