I know, I know. Rumors of this stupid game getting released have been
floating about for... well, how long has it been since "Half Life 2"?
'Cause that long. But it looks like this time there really, REALLY
might be some meat behind it.* That not only is the game in
development, but that it's already being playtested and maybe --just
maybe-- that there will be an official announcement later this summer,
and an actual RELEASE DATE this winter.
Although, really, I don't care that much about the game itself. "Half
Life", for all its historical import, is passe. If it releases, well,
we'll see how it is, but it's not up there with the 'must buy' games
anymore. It's not quite library-fodder, but "Half Life 3"? It's about
as important to me right now as the next "Halo" installment.
No, what I'm really interested in is: what product is Valve going to
attach "Half Life 3" to. Will it be a VR exclusive? A SteamDeck
exclusive? Some new version of Steam? Some sort of cloud-streaming
subscription? Because I doubt Valve will allow the game to release
/without/ taking advantage of its marketability to the fullest.
