I was excited about "Mechwarrior 5: Clans", enough so that I bought it
day one. That sure taught me a lesson. ;-)

What was like? It's on Gamepass but having cleared out most of the 7
TB of storage that I have at Christmas, I have no room again now and
have to uninstall a game or games just to try something new. I was
thinking of adding another 4TB of drive space but I'll only fill it up
rapidly and be back to square one.

Is it worth me making room do you think?
That really depends on how much you enjoyed "Mechwarrior 5:
Mercenaries". It's basically a slightly gussified update to that game,
except featuring the clans. MW5:C was disappointing mainly because it
didn't do much to improve that game, which many (myself included) felt
was weak because of its terrible AI (that needed to be bolstered with
endless waves of enemies) and its repetitive procedural missions built
around too few map assets. The former saw very little improvement, and
the latter was replaced with some extremely linear and uninteresting
campaign maps (some quite ugly, visually), and some questionable
design choices (such as having boss monsters at the end of many
missions). The story and characters are pretty uninteresting too. It
isn't terrible but it doesn't stand out; it's an average mid-tier game
and suffers mostly from having to live up to the expectations of its
license.
If you loved Mercenaries, you'll enjoy this one; it's stronger in some
areas, weaker in others, but more or less the same. But if you found
MW5: Mercenaries a bit disappointing (or were even on the fence about
it), you'll be even more disapponted by Clans.
I myself don't hate the game... but it definitely wasn't worth a Day
One purchase at full price. Even had I purchased this at a 75%
discount, I still would have been critical, but this game in no way
lived up to its $60USD price.
I just wish "Mechwarrior 3" played better with modern hardware. That
was the best of the series, in my opinion.
