The Number strikes again! Once it gets its hooks in you, forever will
it dominate how you interact with video games. Sadly, there's no known
cure at the moment, so enjoy your five-digit video-game library. ;-)
I didn't even bother to check the ratings on other non-Epic web sites!
No time!
On a related aside, I recently added "GeoGuesser" to my Steam library.
It was always a game that I had some interest in, but the web version
required a subscription to play, and as many of you here might know,
that's not something I enjoy. So when I saw it was entered early
access on Steam today, I quite excitedly clicked 'add to cart'; while
I've no interest in paying for a subs, it's a game I'd happily buy.
Except, much to my shock, it was a free-to-play game... which required
a subscription if you wanted to play more than ten rounds (that's ten
rounds total, btw; not ten rounds every day or every week or every
year. You get the game and if you ever want to play an eleventh round,
you're paying a monthly subs). In other words, it's a subscription
game with a (very short) free trial.
And so I did something I almost never do; I /removed/ a game from my
library. I don't know if you understand how damning this is; I have
some of the worst games in my library, but I don't get rid of them,
just because that would make The Number go down. But for a business
plan this slimy, The Number can go hang.
(Although, I did buy another, better game to keep The Number happy.
;-)
I saw its bad ratings. I said, no thanks! I am not cluttering my
libraries with crappy games. Well, not many!
