I'm sorry you don't like Japanese movies. Maybe you're not watching the
right ones. I admit there is some unusual in what I've seen, like I saw
a Japanese man have sex with a husky once in the film but some cultural
divide is to be expected. It's on the other side of the map for
Chrissakes. My favorite is Roshoman and The Seven Samurai is good too.
I didn't say I don't like them. I said I can't judge if they're good
film or not. "The Seven Samurai" is also a favorite ("Shin Godzilla"
is up there too). But there's an alieness to the culture that makes it
difficult for me to judge if the characters seem off because they are
being directed in a way that relates to different theatrical tropes,
or due to a difference in culture, or simply because they suck.
So I often I enjoy the movie, but my liking it doesn't mean it's
necessarily good. I get a kick out of a lot of terrible movies too.
