It's time for the next of our biweekly (or is it bimonthly?)* announcements about the not-quite-free games available on Amazon Prime Gaming. The middle-of-the-month always has fewer games, and this time is no different; we've just a bare handful to add to our libraries.
* Hypnospace Outlaw (via GOG) A point-n-click adventure with retro graphics that has you protecting the world wide web circa the early 90s. It's... fine. It plays a bit too heavily on the nostalgia some people have for that era, and is a bit too dependent on Easter eggs and secrets. The gameplay itself is sort of bland.
* Amnesia: Rebirth (via EPIC) It's more Amnesia. Individually, the games of the franchise are fine but there's a huge sense of deja vu if you've played any of them before; the games just don't extend themselves past the concept initially created by the first game. Personally, I find the "can't fight or even look at the monsters" conceit quite tedious, but I get that some people love it.
* Doors: Paradox (via EPIC) It's one of those Escape-Room games; those weird limited puzzle games where you have to find the objects and then use them in the right order to get out of the 'room' you're in just so you can do it in the next. Again, not a genre that's my cuppa tea.
And that's it for the new games on offer. Not a lot but, like I said, it's the middle of the month. Expect a fresh batch in two weeks. I'll see you all then!
* it's actually, both, or neither, depending. Both are wonderfully ambiguous words and can mean either "twice per week/month" or "once every second week/month". A better usage would be semi-weekly or just "every other week", but if we wanted clarity in our language we wouldn't be speaking English. ;-P
