I never quite understand sales like 10% off as paying say £50 instead of
£45 really doesn't make any difference does it. Possibly it's just to
grab your attention?
All of the main outlets seem to do this.
I recently had an email from Fanatical inviting me to browse their
current summer sale. Some of the games on 'sale' were 3+ years old and
the sale amounted to 10% off the release price. It seems bonkers, but
as all of them do this I assume that they must make at least some
sales through these promotions.
Some games in these 'sales' are £45+ which is often double the price
or even more if you use a different vendor.
Part of me says they know what they are doing but part of me says maybe not as this is the games industry. Personally I'd probably pick up some of the early Call of Duty games if they got into that £5-£10 range on Steam as an impulse buy. What I'm not doing is paying £30+ for games that were released ten to fifteen years ago. That's just taking the piss.
