What Have You Been Playing... IN MAY 2025?
DOOM 2016
I've gotten a bit further with it this time. It's an OK game.
Such a wonderfully succinct description; I envy your ability (do you
give lessons? I think I could use them!). Because that is exactly what
"Doom 2016" is; "okay". It's not bad... but its not great. It's fine.
DOOM Eternal
I'm amongst the few who liked the platforming aspects of "Eternal";
well, mostly. Some of the later puzzles where you had to do a dozen
jumps up, down and around traps were a bit much... but for the
traversal between arenas, I rather enjoyed the change of pace.
But I didn't like what you called the 'resource management' aspect of
the game; the constant shortage of ammo forcing you to constantly
change weapons and then rush in to piñata the enemies for reloads.
It's a crucial part of "Eternal's" design and balance, but it's not a
mechanic I enjoy; I'm the sort who sits back and likes to take the
enemy out from range, and that's not a workable strategy in this game.
(What can I say, I have an unnatural aversion to throwing myself into
the range of the claws and teeth of horrific hell-beasts). It's
actually a terrificly designed combat mechanic and incredibly well
balanced... but it is not one I have fun with.

DOOM: The Dark Ages
So much Doom in one month! Kudos to you! May the spawn of hell tremble
at your coming!
