Cheat Engine often has tables for any offline games, or you can set up invulnerability pretty easy. I mostly use Cheat Engine to speed up games that have tedious parts or slow them down when they're too fast paced for my old reflexes (but yet I'm somehow reasonably good at souls games without any cheats. Oh yes, I did cheat past some very tedius farming for materials in DS1 on my SL1 character, after I'd already finished the game a couple times, and proved I could farm them, it was just would have been many many hours of farming.) Also auto-pickup armor & weapon boxes in EDF as it's too tedious to farm in hardest/ inferno otherwise, really it's too tedious in inferno even doing that.
I don't use cheat mods myself but I can see why people would use the type of ones you're talking about. Indeed I don't really see it particularly different to looking something up with google which I try not to do but does happen.
Talos Principle is an example for me, it's probably has ninety or so puzzle areas and out of those I used YT twice after not even doing other areas for a flash of inspiration worked. On top of that there was the last level which I though was just horrible. I could see they were trying to provide a grand finale but introducing a time limit into a game which previously had none felt like a bad idea. I tried several times and it was a case of you'd hopefully make a bit of progress with each try but it was really a case of not thinking about things but instead just trying something and hoping it worked.
For cheat mods I don't understand there is one for Hearts of Iron IV. What's the challenge of 'beating' the game if that's just typing things in. That's just like bragging about how good you are at online computer games when you've just paid players who are actually good to play on your account.
