Oh - a cheat mode. That stuff is still going on? ?
I did a bit of googlefoo and the answer seems to be yes. Personally I
never quite understood why people would use them as what do you
actually get out of it.
A feeling of Godly power! "You don't control me game makers! I'll do
whatever I want with your world!!!"
Also to explore without having to worry about dying, find hidden rooms
with no entrance, or all the secret areas. Not having to come back
later with key x to open a door (personally I hate that, but haven't
gone that far.)

That sounds great sometimes. Which game and cheat do I need? :-)
I'm sure you can look up which, I never used it, it seemed like it took
too much challenge out of games. I did briefly use wizard mode which
lets you save your game in Nethack, except it didn't help that much
other than with experimenting. I think sometimes the walking through
walls part is called wall-hack?

I'm pretty sure a lot of console ports have things like that. I think
at least some of the earlier Doom, and other FPS games did too

Bethesda has a lot of console commands you can use without even using
mods. Apparently tgm is the command in console to turn on god mode.
hit ~ to open the console. Then type: tgm<enter> and ~ again to exit
console mode.

I remember infinite ammo/no reloading is a popular cheat/mod in a lot of
FPSs as well.

Cheat Engine often has tables for any offline games, or you can set up
invulnerability pretty easy. I mostly use Cheat Engine to speed up
games that have tedious parts or slow them down when they're too fast
paced for my old reflexes (but yet I'm somehow reasonably good at souls
games without any cheats. Oh yes, I did cheat past some very tedius
farming for materials in DS1 on my SL1 character, after I'd already
finished the game a couple times, and proved I could farm them, it was
just would have been many many hours of farming.) Also auto-pickup
armor & weapon boxes in EDF as it's too tedious to farm in
hardest/inferno otherwise, really it's too tedious in inferno even doing
that.
I wonder if there is one for Elden Ring so I can finish the game. Or
maybe just to frollic around without worrying about dying :-)
