Two of the best things Steam does is library sharing and game
streaming. Microsoft GamePass doesn't quite have the equivalent
functionality, but they're working on it.

New to the service is their "stream your own" function, where you can
stream XBox games you own to your PC.* Not all games, though; its a
limited selection. Not even all games you may own; only if you own
them digitally. You can't stream a PC game to the XBox either,
although you can stream to supported TVs and browser-based devices.
Nor can you keep the streaming local; the data is actually being sent
from Microsoft's servers, just to add that extra bit of latency. And
it only is available if you have a paid subscription to GamePass. In
other words, it's pretty limited compared to Valve's offerings.

But give Microsoft this much; at least they're making an attempt,
which is more than many of its competitors are offering. Sure, it's
all part of Microsoft's self-serving goal of making
software-as-a-service seen as a completely ordinary thing (and making
Microsoft central to that market) but that's only to be expected.

Like I said, at least they're trying.
