 The two problems I have are that it's not clear how much of the money goes to the charity in question and I assume there's no option to use Gift Aid which allows a charity to also claim back the tax (charity donations are tax deductible) which mean an extra 25%.
 Now that doesn't mean I'm against the event as it will raise money but if my motivation was to support them I'd donate to them directly.
 

I'm the opposite.  I always round up to the nearest dollar whenever that's the option for a charity, but direct giving I reserve to a select few "charities".
