Unfortunately crafting is here to stay. It was in Ultima Online,
Everquest etc. Original City of Heroes didn't have any but of course
they added it, and the Homecoming revival does, though I didn't find it

That's pretty much all I can ask for anymore, crafting that isn't too
annoying. IIRC Fallout '76 isn't bad, it's not a fantasy MMO though.
Warframe's not bad (though grinding eventually becomes so, but you got a
good 6-9 months before I found it too annoying.)
Even with crafting it can be avoided in most if not all of them, just
grind for money/items and pay someone for their crafting. That's what
makes it an MMO.
Am I sinful for enjoying PvP? Because that's what makes it an MMO to me.

So long as your virtual murder is between two (or more) consenting
players, it's all good. Although if your ganking newbs, you deserve
the most hellish punishment available: playing "Ride to Hell:
Retribution" until the end of time. ;-)
