But with "Civilization VII", it might just be a game so awful I don't
want to keep playing it like that. I wonder if marketing can use that
'advantage' in their ad-copy? ;-)

Pick up and play gameplay! Stop any time you want!

Given the fact that some dislike the length of the game, we have
introduced the option of a "ceasefire" card. The game immediately ends
when it is drawn and whoever has the most points wins the game.
Oh gog, can you imagine were that to happen? Adding a deck-building
mechanic to the game? It brought to mind an image of a bunch of
C-levels talking about Civilization:
"Hey, is there anyway we can cram in some deck-building
mechanics?"
"Good idea. Maybe some role-playing elements too. Can the player
level up their stats, maybe? Conquer five cities and get a +1
population bonus!"
"Battles are too boring. Throw in some QTE to determine if a unit
stack wins in combat or not."
"We definitely need to work in some rogue-like elements.
Rogue-likes are really hot now. Maybe if you lose the game you can
respawn with no resources but all your cities intact."
"Every civilization has a leader; perhaps we can add cosmetics to
spice up the character image? Think of the MTX revenue!"
