Happiness could be a motivation for migration, but it can't be the sole factor for making a move.  Other factors include things like economics (job availability), finances (get a job), social network (desire to be suitably proximate to family), climate and/or geographical preferences, personal interests, pastimes, etc: its a long list.

 Your entire list is a set of factors that contribute to happiness. LOL

Precisely:  factors like better jobs, proximity to family and other benefits is why the average residents are more happy, despite the usual litany of reasons why they supposedly should miserable & leave, such as for lower costs of living,  warmer winter weather, etc.
