Rumouredly Apple is not going to call the next version of their
operating system macOS 16, and instead will start referencing the year.
Like some other sectors*, they will stupidly use the *next* year rather
than the year it is released ... so get ready to (perhaps) expect macOS
26 to be announced at the Developers Conference. :-\
The only bonus for this will be if they also ditch the meaningless
silly codenames.
Let's hope that both happen. The names have always been stupid, confusing and
meaningless. The current numbering scheme is definately confusing.
And the next year is not stupid. It gets released in mid fall, so NEXT year is
when everyone will be running it. Common sense says you don't install a new
version of anything until at least x.1.1.
If they were released in January each year, then by all means use the current
year. But in October, use the next year.
