Well, whatever was going on seems to have resolved itself 8 hrs later. Still, it was very weird.

Could be the part of MacOS that allows it to run iOS apps. I wouldn't be at all surprised if some lazy developers are releasing "Mac apps" that are really just their iOS apps in disguise.
