 That's been a feature for years before the "intelligence" was added, how
is it suddenly "required" to have the "ai" stuff to type to siri?

Silli ... err, Siri has probably been tweaked or rewritten to use Apple "Intelligence" to understand what you asking for, and then respond with a load of garbage that has very little to do with what you're asking for.  :-\
