One of the problems with Apple's "dumb terminal" design of millions ofIt occurs that you do not know ForeFlight. It's aviation software used by pilots of everything from a Piper Cub to Gulfstream jets. It does not need any connection to the outside world other than GPS and Connext. The latter is FAA service signals transmitted to a any onboard transponder with ADSB capability. Bluetooth connects the transponder to the phone. With that data and your downloaded maps database you can navigate and receive current composite radar and airport weather and NOTAMS. The iPhone does all the computing. The maps can include worldwide:
