Have you ever pondered going to System 9.xx?
Just wondering if that might give you any advantages?

I need the office G3 as a backup for the studio G3 which is mainly used
for audio work.  OS9 doesn't have the onboard audio capability of OS
8.6, so I would need yet another machine as the studio backup.
