I've recently found an wireless access point which wouldn't route between 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi networks. Devices on either WiFi could other devices on the same, or on Ethernet, but not the other.
It was a bugger to tack down as the Pi talked to my laptop when I was near it, but stopped working when I was further away. Although the Pi 3B has both 2.4 and 5, it was far away from the AP so used 2.4 as did the laptop when it was nearby. However moving away the the laptop switched to back 5 GHz, and couldn't see the Pi any more.
