My DHCP server on that network has a list of known hosts (known by their MAX address) and what their IP address should be. Hence my annoyance when employees with iPhones have randomized MAC addresses.
The randomised MAC addresses of iPhones are from the 'locally
administered' MAC address ranges. The non-local non-multicast
addresses have a first octet of x0, x4, x8 or xc, where x is
any hex digit.
The locally administered addresses have a first octet of x2, x6,
xa or xe (like 76:f9:76:17:f6:4d, from my iPhone).
The iPhone MAC address fudging can be turned on/off for each network
separately, from the 'i' menu of the WiFi connection. Just tell your
folks to turn off the fudging for your network or stay outside.
