There was a discussion on ND about people driving slow in the left lane, and some of the smug posters said that they intentionally go the speed limit in the left lane. This is St. Louis, and in some parts of town, that could get you shot. It also brought back a fun memory. Here's what I posted.

Slower traffic should stay to the right. Faster traffic should stay to the left. I remember about 15 years or so ago, there was some guy in a fancy convertible with two grade school aged kids who was driving in the left lane on Manchester, pacing himself with the car to his right to keep me from passing. It went on for miles, and was obviously intentional. Finally, he got in the left turn lane at a stoplight, and I pulled up alongside him. His kids got an education, and learned about concepts that they couldn't unlearn, including about parents who do things to their children that they obviously shouldn't do. There may have been some uncomfortable kitchen table discussions after that. I wonder if Richie Rich ever thought the better of doing what he did in the left lane.

Yeah, what I didn't type because ND is moderated was, *Mommy, do daddies really do those things to their daughters?* I've driven that stretch of road hundreds of times since then, and have never seen Mr. blue convertible again. You know what they teach kids about not using violence. "Use your words." That's what I did.
