Hello, Ben, good to hear from you again.  :-)

You are doing better than Alan on this though he doesn't
have a single clue about what execution traces are or how
they work.

You should read "How to make friends and influence people" by Dale
Carnegie.  You may not care about the former, but you sure are trying the
latter.  Hint: telling nasty lies about people is not effective.

With respect (and I mean that), you've misread the situation.  PO is
very effective at influencing people to do what he wants.  Getting
clever, knowledgeable people to talk to him about his "work" is how
he maintains his sense of self.  It's his narcissistic fuel.

Yes, you're right.  I think my problem is that I can't understand what it
is to be Peter Olcott.  I'm trying to understand that.  I mean, I can see
what's driving Richard to post so much, i.e. a love of the truth, for
which I commend him, even if I wouldn't handle it the same way myself.

What is it which  drives somebody to spend so many years fruitless study
of something which is well beyond his intellectual abilities?  That is a
mystery.

And to this end, telling nasty lies about people is very effective.  One
of the hardest thing to ignore is a public post saying you are stupid or
ignorant or a liar.

Yes, you're right, here, too.  I think he's said that about pretty much
every active poster over the last few years.  But I only post here now
and again, even if fairly intensely.  Olcott's barbs sting much less than
they did when I was still taking him fairly seriously.

I still care about the truth, though, which is what causes me to make
these posts occasionally.

Have a good Sunday!
