| The agency said it's bolstered its ability to handle historically
| high demand for travel to the US with technological solutions and
| expanded use of interview waivers for some visa applicants.

| The update comes weeks after the conclusion of a pilot program
| offering H-1B specialty occupation visa holders the option to renew
| their visas in the US for the first time in decades, offering more
| certainty about their ability to travel outside the country. The
| agency has yet to release an assessment of the pilot, but the return
| of domestic visa processing was expected to eventually help relieve
| processing backlogs at embassies and consulates overseas.
