| As migrant workers and the businesses that employ them confront
| immediate threats from Trump's policies, there could also be longer-
| term consequences for the economy. Costa, at the Economic Policy
| Institute, points out that the US workforce would be stuck at the
| size it was 30 years ago without new arrivals--meaning a smaller
| population and economy. "There's no economic growth without
| immigrants," he says. "That's just the reality." Business leaders
| have largely echoed that view, arguing that legal immigration can
| help ease hiring and wage pressures. Labor groups have opposed the
| proposal for mass deportations and the rollback of protections for
| migrant workers, while also seeking reforms including for temporary
| guest worker programs they argue are prone to exploitation and can
| undercut wages. "A climate of fear makes our workplaces and
| communities less safe," the AFL-CIO said in December.

Will Donald Trump attempt to enlist Peter Thiel's VP JD Vance to serve
as Trump's Deputy Chief Sales Critter for Trump's bipartisan,
comprehensive, merit-based, immigration reform legislative legacy,
authored by the Cheap Labor Lobby and passed by Mike Johnson's
House.GOV and John Thune's Senate.GOV and will Thiel allow Vance to
commit political suicide for the pyrrhic victory of winning Trump's
endorsement for WhiteHouse.GOV?
