And I'll bet flying to Oakland is cheaper.

Airfare these days I think are more dependent upon when booked, "who"
you are (online), etc.
I decided to check. Using Expedia I looked for flights from OAK to EHR
(Oakland International to Newerk, NJ) and from SFO to JFK for December
9th to 13th.
Oakland to Newark cheapest is $229.
San Francisco to Idlewild cheapest is $233.
Four dollars. But the big difference is the cheaper flight has a two
hour layover in Las Vegas, while the other is direct.

price checking is fast and easy
Flying direct to Kennedy compared to 2 layovers on the way to Newark for only $4 more is insane. But then, so is the entire airline industry. I had an emergency a few years back where I had to fly from Vancouver to Boston. I paid $675. The guy sitting next to me paid $96. Go figure.
