The Swedish COVID-19 approach: a scientific dialogue on mitigation
policies
>
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sweden was among the few countries that
did not enforce strict lockdown measures but instead relied more on
voluntary and sustainable mitigation recommendations.
...
...
Instead, the country relied on its citizens' voluntary behavioral
changes, considering them to be more sustainable. This approach
involved enforcing physical distancing, encouraging working from home,
limiting social gatherings and travel, prohibiting most public events,
and so on. Initially, masks were mandatory only in healthcare and
older adult care settings, but later they were also recommended for
crowded public transport. Kindergartens, primary schools, and
secondary schools remained open throughout the pandemic, which was a
unique policy. A large majority (>90%) of the Swedish population
approved, endorsed, and complied with the Swedish policies, according
to repeated public polls conducted during the pandemic by the Swedish
Civil Contingencies Agency (1).

You are using nih.gov for information about how sweden handled it, when a swede is telling you? Let me tell you how it was.
There was no enforced physical distancing, only recommendations, and that's it. Working from home I assume, but didn't delve into, since I've been working from home 100% for many years. Travel was not limited at all. Social gatherings were limited later on, but completely random. Some was allowed others not, so in the end people just said f*ck it and did what they wanted, and of course, there was no law to prohibit people from meeting. Masks were never mandatory, except when flying unless you knew the loop holes.
When it comes to public polls, of course the citizens say what they think the people want to hear. Based on from where I was, I'd say it was 50/50 probably and less the longer it lasted.
But hey, why trust the guy who was there, when you can read on nih.gov. ;)
