Germany and other G7 countries in June struck a preliminary deal to
use the value of some $300 billion of Russia's sovereign assets
immobilized in Western financial institutions to secure a $50 billion
loan to Ukraine. But governments have yet to agree on the details of
the scheme, and technical talks might drag on for months.

Ah yes.. that rings a bell. I read somewhere that since there was a bigger
deal on the table, germany would use that as an excuse to contribute less.

Like who is going to get a piece of this action....and at what
interest rate?

I haven't followed the details, but something stinks here, imho. Just
give Ukraine the interest money, now.

Oh yes... I agree! Since you are a regular reader of my post, you might have seen that I am a capitalist and/or libertarian or what ever term du jour you prefer.
What is happening now, is the worst kind of state sponsored socialism taking place. It's a stampede and a gold rush to see which government will manage to lock in the best "rebuild" contracts in ukraine, and then pass it on to big corporations to be able to get their hands on as much donated money as possible.
Note how well the arms industry is doing, and that it is in their interest to prolong the war as much as possible, instead of giving ukraine a "super weapon" to end the war once and for all.
I just hope, but I think it might sadly not be that realistic, that russia will foot the bill for the rebuild of Ukraine. I think instead, it will be europe.
But we shall see!
F16 are in the air, and they turned the tables. Maybe something decisive will happen in the next 1-2 years.
