This is the truth! I have done the same. After 3 warnings, a gen z still was not able to show up to meetings, both internal and customer meetings. After hearing excuses from sickness, power outtage, internet outtage, that he forgot a meeting, etc. I kicked him out.
When doing that, I told him that the best advice I could give him for his future career was to actually respect dead lines, show up to meetings, and actually show up to work. If he could do those things, I promised him that his next job would be much longer lasting than the one he had.
Due to this reason, I also avoid gen z when hiring, but go more on peer recommendations, and since they are all quite a few years away from gen z, I naturally have very little to do with that generation.
I'm not ruling it out though, and am always open to being positively surprised, but it very seldom happens. If it does happen, I do try to help by recommending them to acquaintances who are hiring at the moment.
