He was the only former US president to reach 100 years old.
Rosalynn Carter, the former president's wife of more than 75 years,
who was known for her mental health advocacy and humanitarian work,
died in November 2023 at 96. The Carters were the longest-married
presidential couple in US history.

President Carter's image belongs on Mt. Rushmore. Not for his term in office, which was not a success by anyone's measurement, but for his time as a former President. He promoted goodwill and decency, which I can't say about any other President in my lifetime (I was born during the Eisenhower administration).
